Does green tea really work to cut fat and weight loss?

I have written about green tea a lot in the past. I've told you about its anti-cancer benefits, its anti-Alzheimer benefits and its anti-aging benefits.

But as Spring weaves its way into our lives and people are out doing all kinds of things to help rejuvenate themselves it's a good time to look at green tea in another light.

A green light to weight loss perhaps!

As you'll see there is a reason we put a nice slug of green tea in our Monster Multi with minerals.

Like it or not our nation likes to pop pills. I should talk; I take at least 30 a day, everyday.

Then again this is my life's passion and work so it makes total sense for me.

A lot of people however are taking weight loss agents. Some are prescription drugs, some are over the counter.

We've had a few problems with both. Some of the drugs like phenteramine are basically speed.

Most people avoid them

Then we had Redux, remember that one?

Gone with the wind because of side effects.

Meridia is still around but can cause significant side effects and doesn't work for everyone. It's expensive as well.

Then we have over the counter weight loss aids

Remember the original Dexatrim? Gone in its most used form because of safety concerns.

Ephedra is probably fresh in your memory too.

Is it possible Mother Nature put something else here for us?

Something as simple as green tea for weight loss.

The active ingredient in green tea is called epigallocatechin gallate.

I think you can lose weight just by saying it backwards fast 10 times, so let's just call it EGCG for short.

Several studies have shown that ECGC reduces blood sugar levels, decreases fat storage, increases fat loss and most importantly prevents weight gain.

Now no one knows exactly how much tea you are supposed to drink for this effect.

Other studies on cancer suggest you may have to drink 6 cups of green tea a day to get these benefits.

Also the studies on weight loss were not done with the tea itself, they were done with the extract. This is the same extract we use in our Monster Multi I like green tea as much as the next person but 6 cups is a lot for most people so I'll take a slug of Monster Multi to make sure I get a good dose as a baseline.

You know designing a multi vite was one of the hardest things I ever did. You have to cover so much territory with one formulation.

We did it though with Monster Multi so remember it if you forget those 6 cups of green tea.
